Christian hope in the time of trial. Peter had been called the Apostle of Hope; Paul, the Apostle of Faith; and John, the Apostle of Love.

Peter deals with doctrine, weighty subjects, i.e., election, foreknowledge, sanctification, obedience, blood and Trinity. He used some of these words several times. Other important words used: salvation, revelation, faith, glory and hope.

The word “Hope” is tied to suffering – the Christian hope in the time of trial. It is Peter’s teaching that daily testing should produce at least five things:

1. Praise: that you have been chosen

2. Glory: that God is your heavenly Father

3. Honor: that Jesus is your Savior

4. An awareness: of His presence Today

5. An awareness: of His “soon” 2^nd Coming!

And he says that all of these things are “Guarded by your Faith!” i.e., as you live your life, your Faith makes the above come true.
