PREFACE

Human beings are always looking for the selections of the highest quality whether it be: a 100% wool suit, a top designer dress, a registered thoroughbred animal, or some prize winner. Today, scientists are trying to provide new genes to assure one's selection of eye and hair color, etc.

Whenever God is panned for selecting the perfect way of human salvation and the people who are the VIPS of that way, the panning appears completely mindless.

A noted writer for Saturday Review once said he was absolutely certain of one thing, that people who are dogmatic are totally wrong. I note that it is all right for him to be dogmatic. So also anti-election people are themselves election-oriented people. As a matter of fact most of them overdo the use of their own elective process.

Average newborn believers want something more satisfying than a philosophically-theological discussion of the doctrine of election. They want to know where it is in the Bible. They want to know what God says. They want to know what God uses the teaching for--in its context.

The context provides the checks and balances needed wherever theologians who are philosophically-minded offer their opinions. For instance, reaching into Romans 9-11 for teaching on individual election shakes some of us to the roots. But knowing the context serves to deny the obsolete methods of proof-texting since the context was not first established.

In our brief treatment, for personal blessing based on solid divine doctrinal instruction, we call for readers to not only have election in their creed, but to have it as well in their practice. In the latter is where great assurance is discovered.

Therefore my brothers, be diligent to make your calling and election matters out of which you get great assurance. For if you practice these things you will never stumble, 2 Peter 1:10.
