CANTICLE 7

Note:  Details of the Chariot
Cedar wood =
the fragrance and incorruptibility of His sanctified humanity.
Pillars of Silver = the dependability and sturdiness of His redemption.
Bottom of Gold = the divine righteousness and glory of our Lord, the basis on which we stand.
Seat of Purple = our heavenly Bridegroom is King of kings. We share His royal position.
"In the midst thereof paved with (inlaid with) love" = love is the great dominating motif and design by which all this glorious palanquin of grace has been prepared. (Read "by the daughters of Jerusalem.")

HISTORICAL SETTING SPIRITUAL APPLICATION
On arriving at Jerusalem the maidens sing a wedding song (3:11)
She is brought to Jerusalem where, shortly outside the city, Solomon joins the palanquin, riding with her into the city, amid the special song for the occasion sung by the daughters of Jerusalem (in general).
3:11
What will be the effect on Him when His bride is finally and fully His own after the longs days of separation? It is this: "The day of the gladness of His heart!" Oh, the joy awaiting Him when He shall see of the travail of His would and be satisfied! When His blood-bought Bride, made perfect by His grace (4:7), shall be presented to Him "a chaste virgin," not having "spot or wrinkle" or any such thing, at the Marriage Supper of the Lamb (Eph. 5:27). There will then be joy in heaven (Mt. 26:29)! And what a song (Rev. 8:9, 12)! The invited guests = redeemed Israel (Rev. 19:9).
