Lesson 4 - Think about
The Word
Now that you have read your text
several times...
Spend some quality time just
thinking about what you have read. Always have a notepad and pen near by.
- 1. Jot down important
thoughts and ideas.
- 2. Question everything
about what you have read.
- 3. Did it make sense?
- 4. If it did, can you
verbalize (say it out-loud) what you learned about the words you read?
- 5. If it didn't, then why
do you think it didn't make sense?
- 6. Re-Read those places
where understanding was difficult.
- 7. Use a different
translation or version of the bible (or several) and read the passages there.
Think some more...... then...
- 8. Make some quick notes
on your thoughts about the verses you have read.
- 9. Make a single sentence
that would be a "title" for those verses.
- 10. Make some quick notes
on your thoughts about the paragraph the verses are in.
- 11. Make a single
sentence that would be a "title" for those paragraphs.
- 12. Make some quick notes
on your thoughts about the chapter the verses are in.
- 13. Make a single
sentence that would be a "title" for this chapter.
- 14. Make some quick notes
on your thoughts about the book the chapters are in.
- 15. Make a single
sentence that would be a "title" for this book..
Remember: This is very early
in your study. These notes will be very sketchy and incomplete. But
repeating this process over and over will deeply acquaint you with the Word of
God.
