The Book of John, W.W. Rugh [8]
The Name:
                                             John
The Subject:                          Conversations of Christ
The Purpose:                        To prove that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, that believing on Him we might have eternal life through His name (John 3:16; 3:36; 20:31; 5:24; Acts 4:12)
The Key Verse:                     John 20:31 -- "But these are written that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing ye might have life through His name."
The Key word:                      Believe or Faith (100)
O.T. names:                           "The Branch of Jehovah" (Isaiah 4:2), "My son" (Psalm 2:7)

Types of Christ in the "Gate," "Door," and "Veil" of the Tabernacle:        Blue Color - the Heavenly one (Exodus 27:16; John 1:18; 3:13)
Types of Christ in the Four Living Creatures, and the Cherubim:
The Eagle - Wings -- Ascend on high (Isaiah 40:31)
Symbol of Christ -- the River outof Eden -- parted into 4 heads (Genesis 2:10):        Fourth "Euphrates" (Genesis 2:14)
Jesus is typified by the "Tree of Life" in the midst of the Garden of Eden, as well as by the river flowing out of Eden, for He is like the tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season (Psalm 1:3).  He is the River to whom we may go when our hearts are thirsty, and drinking of Him, out of us will flow rivers of living water (John 7:37-39; Revelation 22:1).  This River is to flow unto the four corners of the earth, even to the uttermost part, and "everything shall live whither the River cometh"  (Isaiah 11:12; Ezekiel 47:9).
