JEREMIAH
The following is a basic outline and a series of graphics that aproximate the growth of Israel's conquering countries. The graphics show size, but only to demonstrate a countries dominance over time - the growth is not accurate. The dates are based on research from only a couple of resources and are, most likely, reasonably accurage.
The Overall objective is to show that God's plans don't just suddenly happen... He is at work, sometime over hundreds of years to bring together His master plan for the Nation of Israel.
The Book of
Jeremiah
God's Plans
and Time - and Illustration
Judgment - Return - Redemption
I.
1.
We should remember
that each of these governments willingly
chose to follow God's leading against His
people in order to chastise
His people.
2.
Each government
will then be chastised
because they willingly chose to do this.
The question then asked is, "How can God's judgment on
those who defy Him be a source of comfort to believers?"...
II.
The little red blob on the left is Rome.

3.
Our
joys and sorrows come about through the plan
and
program of God in a
much larger story than our individual
lifetimes.
III. Setting the stage for Assyria capturing Israel, and Babylon overtaking Assyria and then taking Judah and eventually Jerusalem.

931 bc - Kingdom Divided
885 bc - Assyria comes to power
722 bc - Samaria falls to Assyria

Off in the distance Rome (Red) is becoming an empire as
are the Medo-Persians (blue)

657 bc - 65 years later Jeremiah born
627 bc - Jeremiah begins his prophetic ministry
Jeremiah Ch. 46
Message to
Baruch, Jeremiah's
faithful scribe 1-3
Some Background
Jer. 32:11-16 - Jeremiah buys
a piece of land and puts Baruch in charge of handling all of the legal
requirements regarding the deed. This was a prophetic act: RETURN
15 “The Lord Almighty, the God
of Israel, says: Houses, fields and vineyards will again be bought in this
land.”
This was a message of hope because the judgment would
not last forever. Israel would be restored, and normal activities would resume.
Once the words were written down, they needed to be read. Jeremiah was not
allowed on the temple grounds due to previous altercations with the leadership,
so he sent Baruch to read the message to all who would listen (Jeremiah
36:5–10.)
The Message (and lesson to us):
(REDEMPTION)
"Should you then seek great things for yourself? Do not
seek them. For I will bring disaster on all people, declares the Lord, but
wherever you go I will let you escape with your life."
Defeat of Pharaoh Necho at
Carchemish Foretold 4-24 (JUDGMENT)
Jer. 46:10
"For that day belongs to the Lord God of hosts (The
Army), A day of vengeance, so as to avenge Himself on His foes".

Invasion of Egypt by Babylon Predicted 25-28
(REDEMPTION).
Babylon continued their conquering on to Egypt, but
as the Persians began to overtake Babylon their efforts in Egypt failed.
Jer. 46:27
"But as for you, O Jacob My servant, do not fear, Nor
be dismayed, O Israel! For, see, I am going to save you from afar."
Jer. 46:28
"O Jacob My servant, do not fear, declares the LORD,
