TYPES IN THE BOOK OF ESTHER
Haman and Mordecai picturing Satan and Christ

  1. Haman (like Satan) seeks glory, exalting self ("I will be like the most High," (Isa. 14:12-14; cp. Ezk. 28).

  2. Mordecai refuses to bow to Haman (cp. Christ refusing to bow to Satan in the temptation, Mt. 4:1-11).

  3. Haman hates Mordecai (and his people).
Satan hates Christ (and His people)

  4. His wicked and cunning plot (cp. "more stubtle," Gen. 3:1; "wiles," Eph. 6:11; 2 Cor. 11:2-3, 14 ff.)

  5. Haman's enforced giving of honor to Mordecai (cp. Satan used as God's instrument of purifying -- which gives praise and honor to God; e.g., Job.)

  6. His overthrow at the peak of his power.
Christ returns and overthrows Satan at peak of his power

  7. Haman's property is given to Mordecai.
So "kingdoms" Satan offered to Christ are given to Christ (Rev. 11:15, 19:11; Dan. 7:13-14.)

  8. Mordecai exalted next to Hauser's, the "little man" becomes "great." (cp. the self-humbled Christ given place of authority over all except the Father who committed the authority to Him, I Cor. 15:27-28.)
