Lesson 3 - Touch The Word
- 1. Type or
write the paragraph out in longhand.
- 2. Read it
from your written copy several times.
- 3. Using
colored "highlighters" and or colored felt tipped pens mark words and thoughts
that stand out to you (especially repeated words or phrases).
- 4. Look for
"Commands," "themes," "repeated ideas," "key phrases," etc., and mark them
with a different color.
- 5. Look for
theological words, ideas, or expressions that stand out, and mark them with a
different color.
- 6. Use
symbolic devices to designate features (boxes around words, circles around
words, underlined words, double underlined words.
- 7. Use lines
and arrows to connect like thoughts and ideas.
- 8. Somewhere
on your paper keep track of what the colors and devices represent.
- 9. Always
mark Prepositions and Conjunctions (and, but, in, out, through, by, before,
after, etc.).
- 10. If you
see something that brings another Bible text to mind, find the reference and
mark it down.
- 11. If you
get a thought and can't express it as a color or device, write yourself a note
in the margin about it.
- 12. Use your
Bible Dictionary, English Dictionary, Bible Reference Books, but STAY AWAY
FROM COMMENTARIES!
